Steven Green (Associate, Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz) has been elected to University Settlement’s Board of Directors, the nation’s first settlement house announced today.
Steven is an associate in Wachtell Lipton’s corporate department, where he advises clients on a wide range of transactions. Steven received his J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he was a forum editor of the Harvard Law Review, and a B.A. magna cum laude in English Literature and Cinema Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Wachtell Lipton, Steven served as a law clerk to the Honorable Sandra S. Ikuta of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He was nominated to the Board by outgoing member David Shapiro, also of Wachtell Lipton, which has a long tradition of Board service at University Settlement.
“Even before he was nominated to join our Board, Steven was already diving into supporting our communities through his pro-bono work at Wachtell Lipton,” said Melissa E. Aase, CEO of University Settlement. “We’re thrilled to welcome Steven to our team, and look forward to continuing to engage his valued counsel.”
“University Settlement’s communities are the lifeblood of New York City – when these communities are strong, so is our city,” said Green. “Inspired by the Settlement’s long legacy of success, and by the impact it continues to make every day, I am honored to join its board, and I look forward to helping its teams continue to build community strength in Brooklyn and on the Lower East Side.”
