Summer Camp
We create dynamic summer camp experiences, ensuring children and teens in our community can have a meaningful summer vacation. Our engaging, fun-filled day camps implement thoughtful on-site programs including academics, arts and athletics, with a full itinerary of field trips that allow children to experience the tremendous resources New York City has to offer. Just like our After-School programs, Summer Camp is free.
Children are also served a nutritious breakfast and lunch. Each of our summer camp programs are creatively structured to support youth development throughout their formative years.
Summer Camp is offered at our Cornerstone Community Center locations (Atlantic Terminal, Campos, and Ingersoll) and 175 Eldridge Street, so students can stay in touch with the staff and programming they’ve connected with during the school year.
Summer Rising
Students enrolled in one of our SONYC or COMPASS after-school programs can enroll in Summer Rising, which connects elementary and middle school students to fun, culturally relevant, and hands-on experiences that strengthen their academic, social, and emotional skills.
Summer Rising is free, and open to any NYC student currently in kindergarten through grade 8. Participants receive free breakfast and lunch; programming includes academics led by NYC Public Schools staff and enrichment activities led by University Settlement staff.
Applications for Summer Rising are handled by the NYC Department of Education (DOE). Parents with children registered in one of University Settlement’s after-school programs at DOE schools can access an application for Summer Rising in their MySchools portal.
Parents can rank their choices of Summer Rising location; the DOE tries to match students with the Summer Rising program associated with the school students attend, but in some cases children who attend after-school with University Settlement may be assigned to Summer Rising programs operated by other CBOs at other schools.
The DOE is the key source of information about Summer Rising registration, and hosts webinars for parents seeking to learn more.
Once your child has been registered in a Summer Rising program operated by University Settlement, our program directors will reach out to families to share more information about each site’s plan for the summer.
