BUFFY

Buffy (she/her) is an artist and writer. Based in New York, she practices and researches performance and production in many contexts. She performs, produces, directs, and manages theater, music, and dance. Sierra reads and writes about sex, work, science, fiction, language, disability, and illness. She creates text, dance, video, sound, images, installation, and public programming. Her artistic practices are concerned with embodied experiences of movement and sound in procedural settings, horror, and medical technology. Her current projects include “Public Structures of Feeling” (a research-based dance and electronic music production about negotiating structural harm), “Preludes to the Theater” (an unstaging of a prelude to Geothe’s Faust), “GASH” (a collection of short horror stories about sometimes wanting a surgically constructed vagina), and “Phrases of the Moon” (a poetry collection composed from fragments of a dream journal set to the lunar calendar). Sierra is the Digital Media Editor for Women & Performance: a journal of feminist theory.

“I’m excited to grow new relationships with other artists in the supportive container of The Performance Project, and to tend to my practice along the way.”
