Reporting to CEO Melissa Aase, Stein will lead the Settlement’s Finance, Information Technology, and Data teams, and will be responsible for managing the agency’s overall budget.

Stein comes to University Settlement with 20+ year career in the nonprofit sector; most recently she served as the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer at StoryCorps, a nonprofit which records, preserves, and shares the stories of Americans from all backgrounds and beliefs. She holds an MBA from Boston University School of Management and previously graduated cum laude from Brandeis University.

“I’m thrilled about the opportunity to contribute to University Settlement’s impressive legacy,” said Lisa Stein. “When complex, diverse organizations like settlement houses can appropriately integrate and optimize their financial, administrative, and data systems, it means our innovative programs are empowered to partner more effectively with our neighbors. I’m excited to work closely with the Settlement’s administrative and program leadership as we continue building a New York City that works for everyone.”

“Lisa has a keen understanding of the leadership and collaboration needed to support an ambitious and growing institution like ours,” said Melissa Aase, CEO of University Settlement. “I’m looking forward to engaging the wisdom of her varied experience, her expertise in building and managing diverse and effective teams, and her passion for making nonprofits more adaptable and sustainable.”
