THE BEACON PROGRAM
Lighting the way towards bright futures
A community center that makes its home within East Side Community School, our Beacon offers a wide variety of programs for all ages, tailored to our students’ preferences.
Beacon’s after-school programs engage young people with opportunities that bolster their self-confidence, open their eyes to future options, and nurture a sense of belonging with the larger community. Middle school and high school students access a wide range of creative and physical activities (detailed below) during the school year. Summer camp makes room for kids to focus on a particular skill or hobby of choice, developing their skills to a higher level while partnering with peers in educational and recreational activities.
Beacon also makes its program space available to community organizations during the evenings and on Saturdays, free of charge.
All Beacon services are free of charge to families and individuals.
University Settlement’s Beacon is located within East Side Community School at 420 East 12th Street, between 1st Avenue and Avenue A. Beacon is open Monday through Friday from 3:30 PM to 10PM and Saturdays from 10AM to 6PM.
